Storytellers

Alitaptap Storytellers-Philippines -  the premier storytelling group of the Philippines whose mission is to promote literacy through the art of storytelling.  It’s officers and members travels around the country conducting storytelling workshops and contests among young and old alike. 

Professional Associations

International Step by Step Association - The International Step By Step Association (ISSA) is a non-governmental membership organization established in the Netherlands in 1999, which unites individuals and organizations into a powerful network to foster democratic principles and promote parent and community involvement in early childhood education.  ISSA members share a vision -- an open society where the entire community helps all children reach their full potential.


The Philippine Board on Books for Young People - The PBBY is a private, non-stock, non-profit organization committed to the development of children’s literature in the Philippines. It is the Philippine National Section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), a world organization founded in Zurich in 1953 that promotes international understanding through children’s books.

The Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP) – a national affiliate of The International Reading Association, it helps promote reading in the Philippines in line with IRA’s mission of providing support to all those who help others learn to read, through research, policy, practice, leadership, fellowship and networking.


The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) PhilAsia – is a regional member of the SCBWI, which was formed in 1971 by a group of Los Angeles based writers for children.  The SCBWI is the only international organization to offer a variety of services to people who write, illustrate, or share a vital interest in children’s literature. The SCBWI acts as a network for the exchange of knowledge between writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators, booksellers and others involved with literature for young people. There are currently more than 19,000 members worldwide, in over 70 regions, making it the largest children's writing organization in the world.

Step-by-Step Reading Corner – is a how-to website for first time children's book authors and illustrators and a go to website for teachers, parents and other educators, where children's literature in many languages is available.

The Step-by-Step Reading Corner creates an international community of authors, illustrators and readers through its publishing network. We are excited to be partners in the process of developing and supporting new children's literature which originates from the 26 countries where the Step by Step Program is active, thereby making it possible to offer children, teachers and their parents a great variety of stories across many cultures and languages.
