Tight Times
Tight Times is about a family going through a financial crisis and how both parents teach their child to cope: the acceptance to bethankful for what they can still afford and the joys of charity and true abundance of heart and spirit despite the lack of material resources.
I know the publisher’s advisers originally wanted the author to change
the title to Hard Times but she insisted on her choice of the adjective.I agree that it's the better word as it connotes how the family has to "tighten their collective belt."
There is a happy ending to this story but in fact, it is happy all throughout
as we see the family celebrate life despite their meager resources.
